Arctic Monkeys are a great band.
Their problem is one James Ford,
everything they have done with
him is poor or could have been
produced much better. Don't
mention FWN, the only reason
that album was any good was
the fact it was co-produced by
Mike Crossey who also produced
Who The Fuck Are Arctic
Monkeys. Whatever People Say I
Am, That's What I'm Not, was
produced by Jim Abbiss and Alan
Smyth. Don't even mention
Humbug, totally ruined by the
tracks Cornerstone, Secret Door
and My Propeller, all produced
by Ford, the rest of the album is
great thanks to one Josh
Homme.
So why are they sticking with
Ford? No one knows. What is
certain though is that Suck it and
See is the poorer for his input.
Songs off the album like Black
Treacle, Hellcat Spangled
Shalala, That's Where You're
Wrong, don't even sound like
AM songs. they could have been
made by the fucking Cure, or
numerous other bands around
in the 80's. There good songs
but there is an essence missing. I
like Don't Sit Down Cause I've
Moved Your Chair, but if they
had put this tune in Josh
Homme's hands it would have
taken the fucking roof off.
This album will please a lot of
people, but that shouldn't be
their aim in life.
They need to get straight back in
the studio with Josh Homme or
bring on board Dan and Pat
from The Black keys to add
some soul, then we will get the
great album we know the lads
are capable of creating.
